The original design of the Vermont Castings Intrepid traces back to the early years of the companies history.  This very compact unit is maxed with detailed design.  One look at the front and sides you can see no detail was left out.  Inside the doors is a hidden ash pan just under the wood grating system .  The generously portioned doors are functional but the top load feature is both functional and effortless compared to stooping and bending to load most stoves.  Behind the doors andirons hold logs away from harming the glass.  The thermostat control air intake insures constant even heat.  The reversible flu collar allows for top or rear flue connection (great for fireplace connection).  Add an enamel color (red, biscuit, brown or ebony), warming shelves and you have a handsome compact, 85% efficient heater for around 1200 square feet.  Proudly displayed on our showroom floor.
